How our Magnet Charging  Facility can help you
Our Policy is to check the flux density of permanent magnets before proposing a 
rewind of the armature or stator.
Saves time and money in rewinding a motor which will never perform.
Permanent magnet electric motors are very common and magnets become weak through 
power supply faults, winding faults, overload, or shock.
We have the necessary equipment to measure the flux density of permanent magnets, 
before a repair, and so avoid the time, cost and risk of rewinding a motor with weak 
magnets.

Digital vernier callipers to measure up to 300 mm.
Dial test indicators or internal, external, use up to 10mm, by .01 mm resolution. 
All machined housings are made by fit to a bearing, not made to size.

Motor and transformer windings, Samatic 12/3 tester
 
Your motor and transformer windings are tested on site up with 
this extremely sensitive  equipment It detects weakness in the insulation, not yet 
aparent at the working voltage. This enables us to provide a guarantee on the 
materials and workmanship I the winding for 12 months.
 
 
 
Surge testing
 
This equipment puts out an international standard pulse When connected to a   
winding, measures the reflections, and represents this on a screen  graphically with  
a numerical summary.  A second and third reading is taken, and comparisons made. 
Where significant variances occur,  a likely fault exists.
 
 
 
Polarity Index Test
 
Is usually carried out on motors over 75 kW, it measures the electrical resilience of the 
insulation, over a 10 minute period the voltage is held at a certain  level, end the leakage 
current measured.
(low leakage at the end if the test is good, when compared with the beginning)

Rotor testing without disassembly
The Samatic Surge tester basically measures inductance,  using it in a slightly different 
mode measures the change in inductance due to broken rotor bars,. 
Worn Bearing housings
This equipment has in fact found worn housings. The inductance changed so 
significantly due to the air gap inside the motor closing, as the slightly eccentric rotor 
turned

Laptop oscilloscope
We can test power supplies up to 2000 amp ac or dc for waveform of current and 
voltage in real time .
 
Datalogger
We can log any parameter of voltage current resistance, temperature for an indefinite 
period, and also we can record any of these parameters before and or after a selected 
event .
This is especially useful in finding the source of intermittent problems 
 
Transient analysis
Equipment reliability is affected by transient waveforms in the power supply
We are able to measure, and analyse , and trace the source of  the offending transient. 
The equipment uses FFT analysis , represented graphically

Ultraprobe 2000 
Used to listen to bearings, in the inaudible ultrasonic frequencies, this is where the sounds of wear 
in bearings is initiated.
A little experience on the operators part enables discrimination of "normal to worn" sounds.

Vibration analysis
 
Machine condition
Commtest 3000 used to record a machine signature.
This is the spectral representation of all vibrations in the machine. This information is 
used to monitor machines for wear.
As it is very sensitive to changes, it can detect machine wear in the very early stages, 
e.g. loosenes of mounting bolts, loose drive belts, worn couplings, worn bearings,
When the bearing  size and brand is known it is  very easy to tell  which part of the 
bearing is worn.

Magnetic Flux Measurement
Many motors today have permanent magnets inside them.
When faults occur in the power supply, or in the motor winding, it can lead to damage in
 the permanent magnet. 
DC motors generally have magnets in the stator, of two common varieties, and 3 other 
less common types, thye each have normal flux densities different, need to be identified, 
and measured before other repairs take place
AC servo motors more common today, have rotating permanent magnets.
It is vital to check the flux density of this befor  the stator rewind, which is very easy
 to carry out. We have developed several ways to recharge magnet on rotors and stators.
